The Nigerian bobsled team and Skeleton Team have signed to partner with some big guns! The two partners have pooled resources together to fly The Nigerian bobsled team to PyeongChang, South Korea, the venue of the international Bobsled game.
This is going to be a first for Nigeria, as there has not been any other African country to compete in a Winter Olympic game. Bobsled (also called bobsleigh) is a winter sport which involves timed runs on a gravity-powered sleigh. The players will run the sled around a narrow and twist ice track specially designed for the game. The time for each race time is recorded and added up for a final score.
The Nigerian bobsled team consists four professional athletes in track and field sport. We have Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, Akuoma Omeoga, and Simidele Adeogbo. The girls have been scrutinized and proven qualified for the Winter Olympics by The Nigerian Female Bobsled and Skeleton Federation.
